Board of Directors Meeting Minutes

December 4, 2007

 

On Tuesday, December 04, 2007 there was a regularly scheduled meeting of the Board of Directors at the Avinger School Cafeteria. Board members in attendance were Frank Galloway, Tom Minor, Jim Byars, Glenn Terry, Jim Trimble and Dr. Steven LeGrow.  Trent Gale was not in attendance.  There were 3 guests present.

 

The meeting was called to order at 6:30 p.m.

Minutes from the last meeting were read and approved with spelling corrections.  The motion was made by Tom Minor and seconded by Glenn Terry.

 

Old Business:

The newsletter to be mailed with the dues notices was reviewed and amended to include recent updates.  A motion was made by Tom Minor and seconded by Dr. Steve LeGrow; motion carried.

 

Debbie Dennis was asked to contact Jan Kenyan for an update on the lake weevil.

 

 

Committee Reports:

Treasurer Report:

The 2008 budget was discussed and approved.  The annual dues budget is $33,440.  The overall expense budget for 2008 is $44,100.  The major expenses included in the 2008 budget are administrative expenses of $5,100 including professional fees; annual meeting expenses of $1,000; common grounds and property maintenance of $21,500 including $2,000 in general repairs, $5,500 for lake chemicals, $5,000 for the lake weevil, $3,000 to stock the lake and $6,000 for mowing of grounds; $1,000 for Fire Wise; $2,500 for insurance funding, $4,500 for property taxes; and $8,500 for electric and dumpster services.  A motion was made by Tom Minor and seconded by Jim Byars to accept the budget as amended; motion carried.

 

Architectural Committee:

Jack Eggar has requested a permit to build a storage unit.  He has obtained permission from his neighbor to build within 25 feet of the property lines.

 

Jim Byars has requested a permit to build an entryway to his home.

 

Common Area:

The back side of the dam still needs to be mowed.

The leaking valve on the lake dam has been repaired.  It may need additional attention in the future.

There are still signs that need to be posted.

  

Fire Wise:

The Avinger Volunteer Fire Department thanked the ELHA Board for the support they have extended in the past.  Van Templeton reported on two current needs of the fire department.  There has been a tanker donated that needs to be outfitted and there are two volunteers who would like to attend training.  The cost to outfit the tanker is at this time unknown.  The cost to attend the training is $1,490 per person.  A motion was made by Jim Byars and seconded by Glenn Terry to donate $1,500 to be used for the tanker and for the training; motion carried with Jim Trimble abstaining.

The next board meeting will be on January 15, 2008 at the Avinger School Cafeteria.
