Board of Directors Meeting

Pending approval

Meeting was called to order at 5:03 pm.  In attendance were board members Frank Galloway, Tom Minor, Jim Higgins, Jim Trimble and George Meriwether. Board members not in attendance were Jan Kenyan and Glenn Terry.  There were 3 visitors present.

Minutes of the previous meeting were approved as amended.  Motion was made by George Meriwether and seconded by Tom Minor; motion carried.

Old Business:

Lawsuit:   Both former board president Trent Gale and the plaintiff have been deposed.

Fire Substation:  A load of flex base is $200 for 6 yards and it would require 5 or 6 loads.  The board will continue to check with the commissioners on any road repair assistance.

There has not been any news on the grant application for a defibrillator for the building.

New Business:

Jan Kenyan is having some medical issues and may need some help with some of her on-going board projects.

 

The Board formally thanked George Meriwether for the donation of the Texas Flag.

 

Committee Reports:

Treasurer Report:

Total cash and CD’s as of 8-31-2009 are $74,904.  Revenues received through 8-31-2009 are $34,233.  Expenditures for the same period are $24,745, resulting in a net income of $9,488 for the period.  There is $6,371 in outstanding dues at this time.

A motion was made by George Meriwether and seconded by Tom Minor to reclassify the insurance fund to the insurance/legal fund; motion carried.

 A motion was made by Tom Minor and seconded by Jim Higgins to accept the treasurer report: motion carried.

Architectural Committee: 

None

Common Area: 

The common areas have been mowed well this month.  The board is hopeful that this will be the last mowing of the season.

The board was asked if there was any interest in moving an old abandoned hangar to Eagle Landing, perhaps for use in the common areas.  There was not any interest in this at this time.

The county has repaired the big wash-out but as of yet have not cleaned the culverts.

There were 10 or 12 boats in the Labor Day Regalia and hot dogs were served for about 50 people.

Eagle Landing Resident Phil McDonald praised the Avinger ISD for its continued excellent academic record while operating on a tight budget.  He presented the concept of a community service group that would volunteer time to do fix-up/clean-up projects for the school.  He also encouraged the community to support the upcoming rollback tax election.

Executive Session:

Motion made by George Meriwether and seconded by Tom Minor to enter into executive session at 5:55 for the purpose of discussing the law suit motion carried.

Motion made by George Meriwether and seconded by Tom Minor to reconvene general session at 6:05; motion carried.
